Études - The Future Is About Experimentation In Their SS22 Collection

For this year's Menswear Paris Fashion Week, Paris-based design trio of Études —Aurélien Arbet, Jérémie Egry, and José Lamali kick off with their SS22 show presentation by taking a minute to reminisce, casting their minds back to the past decade of their old pieces and looking at them in a new light which the trio like to call “an exercise in introspection.”

The campaign video displays a very carefree vibe from the collection that captures the alluring scenery of Grenoble, France. Amongst the gorgeous breathtaking views of the snow-white mountaintop setting for their collection. It provides the brand with the vision they wanted to achieve.

The design trio used past creations to freshen up looks. They decided to loosen their approach to their signature tailoring aesthetics and combine a fresh and upbeat connection with American-esque street-styled silhouettes that are more contemporary and shows practicality.

“The future is about experimentation”, explains Jérémie Egry.

“It’s very about being more conscious about the future and being more collective”, explains Jérémie Egry.

This season, in their Marais studio, Paris Centrale, the design trio decided to focus their attention on old archive pieces from past collections. It was a time to experiment, adjust, tweak if necessary and restyle old pieces to add a new purpose to this season SS22 collection. By utilising the process of upcycled fashion into the mix, some silhouettes were perfect how they are. However, the remaining pieces were diversely tailored and upcycled to create something new and fresh.

“For us, it was more about a process of deep digging in our 19 previous collections and transforming what we thought was important into something new”, says Aurélien Arbet.

“We worked around the slogan {yes future} and that’s really the idea of a positive future and we believe in it and we want to make the best out of it”, says Aurélien Arbet.

The collection features good quality sizable shirting, long sleeve cardigans with flame prints. Army-like baggy trousers, tailored jackets, loose-fitting denim workwear paired with one of the brand’s favourite sizeable outwear to complete the collection in colourways such as sky blues, beige, white, and black.

The design trio's ultimate mission is to look towards the future and experiment more with their menswear and womenswear collections. Staying true to their humble beginnings has always been a foundation for the brand, more collaborations to come, remembering how far they have come and the determination to develop the brand further for an upbeat future.
