It leaves the Londoner open and vulnerable, as she expresses her unwavering desire in the form of this R&B contemporary-styled ballad lowering walls in a moment of pure transparency.
The notes sung are handled with delicacy and care as she relishes the feeling of intense young love. Emotive, the production is composed of drums, gentle guitars that are played underneath and synths blurring the lines between pop and R&B.
Matching the song's mood, bright florescent colours are the first thing you notice in the accompanying music video directed by Priya Minhas, which acts as episode three in her narrative.
Artful, Äyanna is placed in the world of nostalgic 2000s romantic comedies TV, as she plays the role of a serenading songstress at the club.
Speaking on the track, Äyanna shares: "’Say You Love Me’ is my favorite song in the project. To me, it feels like the perfect stadium love song to sing.
I remember when I was creating it with Ari Pensmith, Daoud and Ben Billions, I told them I wanted to know what an Rnb ballad would sound like if it was inspired by ‘Sunflower’ by Post Malone, which was one of my favorite songs at the time.
Every time I hear or sing this song, it takes me back to where I was when I wrote it — experiencing love for the first time.”
