Wande Coal And Kel-P Join Forces On New Single 'Old Soldier'

'Old Soldier’ from renowned Afrobeats artist Wande Coal and Grammy Award Winning producer Kel P has been released today via Jones Worldwide Entertainment. 

Upbeat and demanding, ‘Old Soldier’ is a vibrant track that fuses afrobeats with a passion that entices and demands the energy of the room be stimulated. Along with Kel-P’s notable production, ‘Old Soldier’ seizes all the energy left in this current year for a colourful celebration of vibrant culture. 

The hook repeats the phrase "Old soldier no go die unless to ba di arugbo" which is a proverb in Nigerian Pidgin, translating to mean that "An old soldier will not die unless they become weak or retire." Themes of resilience run through the track as Wande Coal and Kel-P describe the physical and mental strain that drives one to the end of their ability to perform their duty, empahsising on the importance of the metaphor, that commends characteristics like perseverance and the refusal to give up or stop fighting.

The single marks Wande Coal’s first release of the year, and also the first of several future collaborations between Wande and Kel’s mission to re-write the standard for Afrobeats culture in our world today.

Wande has established himself as a leader in the  Afrobeats genre, and after taking a brief hiatus from music, he is ready to step out onto the scene and claim his place. Grammy award-winning producer and singer-songwriter Kel P has produced for notable artists such as Burna Boy, WizKid, Blaqbones, Black Sherif, and is recognised for his iconic tag ‘It’s Kel P Vibes’. 

Udoma Peter Kelvin Amba, known by his trademark name Kel-P is a Nigerian Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum record producer, singer and songwriter who has played a vital role in the current scene that Afrobeats occupies in the world of music. The super producer turned lead artist is turning the light from his own penmanship to his own solo releases, and continues to generate countless streams and achieve worldwide success. 

Oluwatobi Wande Ojosipe, known as Wande Coal, is an iconic Nigerian musician. His diverse ability to fuse genres, such as Arobeats and traditional sonical trademarks from Africa has caused his long list of accolades (MTV Africa Music Awards, Seven Head Awards) to grow longer. Wande’s knowledge of the importance of collaboration has led him to handpick the artists he creates with, which has led to an overflow of successful collaborations between himself and genre-leading artists such as Davido, Burna Boy, Amaarae, and Don Jazzy.
