Electric - that’s the best way to describe VIN + OMI’s F/W 2022 fashion show ‘ART’. From the clothing, to the after party, the energy was overflowing.
Carrying on their partnership with The Dorchester, VIN + OMI held their fashion show in the Dorchester Hotel Ballroom for the second year in a row. A grand room, it’s opulence worked to compliment the extravagant nature of the clothing that it held during the short show.
Right from the start, the atmosphere was booming. The music was loud, rebellious and fun switching between punk, and disco. The models strutted, whooped and danced down and around the centre of the room, making sure to captivate each member of the audience with their theatrical demeanour.
The collection was out there - from glam dresses to headwear you could not ignore, Vin + Omi really emphasized the art theme. The detailing was especially fun; the use of teddy bears, lights, umbrellas and more as clothing added to the artistic feel they were creating.
Sustainability was of course central to the collection. ‘No Excess’ was printed across various different pieces, and references to environmental issues were too embedded in the pieces' subtlety. It was particularly ubiquitous in this regard as it also was the revealing show for a new type of leather. Their environmental efforts led to them pioneering a new sustainable method and creation - leather made out of chestnuts from the UK. Not only did they reveal the world’s first dress made out of chestnut leather at the show, they also showcased looks featuring material created from the nettles harnessed from their ongoing collaboration with Prince Charles at the Highgrove Estate.
The reuse of material was highlighted throughout with their partner brands supplying materials for them to recycle and upcycle into new garments and accessories. At a time where fast fashion is the norm, their continued dedication to sustainability is admirable.
For this collection Vin and Omi did what they do best - took sustainability and made it fun.
