Vacatixn Unveils Latest Body Of Work 'East River Drive'

Coming after his previous project Thelonious Monks, East London rapper Vacatixn has unveiled the highly anticipated East River Drive that combines elements of lo-fi hip-hop, R&B and jazz with conscious lyrics that invite us to delve into concepts such as love, loss and personal experiences. With this 11-track project brimming with emotion, East River Drive is a carefully curated selection of tracks that take us on a journey through the mind of Vacatixn.

Boasting with a selection of features such as Jade Morgana, Spacetu, Jordan O and more, East River Drive showcases a strong and uniquely nostalgic EP where Vacatixn wants to emit a feeling that translates into a language and where the listener can be a part of the sound itself. With Escapism being a big idea that Vacatixn wants us to take away as a listener, he fuses rap and harmonies like on ‘Day Dreaming / Trust Interlude’ featuring Jade Morgana who provides an R&B-infused touch on the track. With a selection of interludes throughout the EP that lead with vocals or keys, leading track ‘Vertigo Luv’ featuring ISRA3L presents a jazz-centred harmonic feel where the entire body of work is a consistent space of emotion and passion.

Since beginning his musical journey at 19, the now 25-year-old found his passion for the pen after writing down his thoughts after his first break up. From taking part in open mic nights to having a headline show, Vacatixn has grown within himself and an artist in the forever evolving musical realm. Drawing influences from Common, 2Pac and J Dilla which explains his love for soul on East River Drive, his previous releases including EP’s Harmony and Three Summers have showcased his lyrical knowhow and continually as well as touching on personal anecdotes that are all too relatable.
