Celebrating 40 Years: Tom of Finland Foundation Brings World’s Largest Erotic Art Fair to London

In celebration of its 40th anniversary, the Tom of Finland Foundation is embarking on an exciting global journey, bringing the world’s largest erotic art fair, the Tom of Finland Art & Culture Festival, to three major cities: London, Berlin, and Los Angeles. This landmark event honours the foundation’s legacy of promoting queer culture, championing creative freedom, and showcasing erotic art.


On Friday evening the show SHADOWBAN, arrived in Belgravia London at SHOWstudio Gallery. SHADOWBAN is an exciting collaboration between the Tom of Finland Foundation and SHOWstudio, the renowned online fashion broadcasting platform founded by Nick Knight. Together, they present a groundbreaking exhibition focusing on illicit content in modern art. Shadow-Ban features a selection of works by Tom of Finland, as well as 15 of the Foundation’s network of Queer erotic artists.This show will explore the boundaries of artistic expression in an era of increasing censorship, highlighting works that challenge norms and push against societal restrictions.


Since its founding, the Tom of Finland Foundation has been a trailblazer in preserving and promoting queer art and culture. The foundation’s mission has always centred around advocating for the rights and visibility of LGBTQ+ artists. This 40th anniversary festival represents a new chapter in that journey, one that continues to fight for creative freedoms and elevate erotic art to the global stage.


Marking 40 years of cultural impact, this festival stands as a testament to Tom of Finland’s influence on the world of art and the ongoing push for artistic freedom and queer visibility. Whether through exhibitions like SHADOWBAN, immersive VR experiences, or thought-provoking discussions on art and justice, the Tom of Finland Foundation is continuing to build a global platform for LGBTQ+ artists to thrive.


SHADOWBAN will run from the 20th September to the 15th November 2024.
