In 1925, Adele and Edoardo Fendi launched a boutique. Little did they know that this was going to be a pillar of Italian luxury for a hundred years and then some. Aptly named “Lo Spirito del Tempo” (The Spirit of Time) the collection was a jubilant joint showcase of Women’s and Men’s Fall/Winter.

Silvia Venturini Fendi discussed her vision for this particular celebration as presenting the future whilst honouring the past. The Fendi 100 isn’t about the physical archives of the house, in the words of Silvia herself, it is her memories, reimagined to craft an idea of what the brand was, is and will be.

To write the story of Fendi, the House drew up the salons of yore. The essence of the house over the years was captured in the “spazio.” The chapters of Karl were paid an homage. Silhouettes and accessories of the 20s all the way to the 80s; from the flared pants to the dropped waists all the way to sequins and checks were referred to. The concept of eternally in style was also revisited, the collection was a walk through timelessness of Fendi’s craftsmanship and creativity, occasionally stopping to smell the flowers of decades past.

A resonating atmosphere, a riveting collection and a resplendent house all collaborating to give the viewer a look into the glamorous history of Fendi. The Baguette, the Peekaboo and the returning Spy Bag came gliding down the runway. Chantilly lace and cashmere, satin and suede all combined to create a symphony of materials, moulded in adherence to the house codes. Italian craftsmanship and signature tailoring joined in the melody as the orchestra performed the hundredth piece.
