Tale of the Trophy Room AJ1 Low "Away"

Setting aside the controversy that surrounds him within the sneaker community, we've got to give credit where credit's due for Marcus Jordan's collaborative efforts on the Trophy Room Air Jordan 1 Low OG "Away".

A black and red colour combination isn't anything new for Jordan silhouettes, as it pays a deliberate homage to Michael Jordan's Chicago Bulls era. In fact, the inspiration for this reverse black toe AJ1 Low traces back to a Sports Illustrated image, capturing Jordan during his rookie year dressed in his warm-up suit on the putting green.

This isn't your average AJ1 Low. A range of materials are strategically employed throughout the shoe, elevating its overall feel to be more 'high-end' and expressive.

You'll notice the toe box and quarter panel feature a white leather base, complemented by a red smooth satin on the toe tip and lace guard. The lace guard incorporates an embroidered Trophy Room logo, while the heel showcases a black diagonal pattern reminiscent of corduroy material... And, the cherry on top - Michael Jordan's signature on the outer heel!

Understandably, there's doubt in the logistics of how this shoe is getting released but a draw has opened via an EQL Run Fair raffle on March 11 and closed on March 13. There's also a release via SNKRS in North America on March 21.

Essentially, if you're not local, expect to fork out a little more than retail to grab a pair or just enjoy the view online!

Back to the shoe itself, of all 7 Trophy Room collaborations, this is easily top three. "Sneaker of the Year" is the premature declaration being made amongst sneaker enthusiasts worldwide so it'll be interesting to see how that truly plays out.
