Sophie Faith Shares New Cut 'Pinky Blues'

Possessing an enthralling voice that is so effortlessly timeless it often feels like we’re transported back in time to the 70s and 80s when we could enjoy the sound of pure soul, Sophie Faith returns with her second single of 2022 ‘Pinky Blues’.

We were first introduced to the London-based songstress with the stormy and sultry ‘Late Nights’ and ‘Salt’ which were released in 2019 and now letting it breathe, we witness the songstress's growth on her new single.

Often singing about love and heartbreak, as well as the struggles of life. ‘Pinky Blues’ cuts a lot deeper acting as a sombre goodbye.

There is a slow and measured pace to the song accompanied by a jazzy twang that acts as the perfect backdrop for Sophie’s silky vocal transitions from a richness of depth to sweet airy notes as she deals with the complexity of love and loss.

It's also a situation I feel that a lot of people in their mid-twenties and above can relate to. It’s about the breakdown of a relationship because of a partner not being able to meet her needs.

Still in love but occupying different stages of their lives, heartbroken Sophie sings “If you can't provide me with what I'm needing boy…And if you don't see me carrying your child….Then boy I'm obliged to see what's out there for me.”

Sophie, musing on the song: “I actually wrote this single for an advert for a microphone company. They asked me to sum up what 2021 was to me, and I’d just come out of a relationship. The main focal point for us breaking up was the conversation around whether we were aligned on having children. I think it became really evident that we weren’t, and even having a small part of me that wants to fulfil dreams of being a mother, it felt like in order for me to be in the relationship I would have to sacrifice that.”

Continuing, she adds: “So it was an ode to anyone who has had to make a decision based on what they want, even if the immediate form of that person is still beautiful and amazing, your goals are just not aligned. I genuinely knew a lot of women in their 20s having to think really hard about their decisions of what they want from their partners/relationships. It’s the first time I’d written and recorded by myself in my room during lockdown, and it gave me the opportunity to be really honest and comfortable.”

Sophie is scheduled to perform at a number of UK venues that include Blues Kitchen in Manchester on the 25th of October, The Green Dore Store in Brighton on the 29th and the Village Underground in London on November 1st.
