Slawn Strikes! The Artist-Entrepreneur Seals the Deal with Industry Gem, Kick Game

Kick Game is getting, well, just that. The luxury streetwear retailer loved and adorned by fashion enthusiasts all over the country is getting a boost from Olalu Slawn, the artist-turned-entrepreneur.

This new partnership signifies a seismic feat for the industry, as well as for Slawn and Kick Game individually. With his investment, the brand can continue creating engaging and purposeful content, expanding physically from city to city, and spotlighting exciting talents.

"I’m not an artist but I make art. I’m not a businessman but I own businesses,” says Slawn - and it seems there’s another key player involved: “With Kick Game, Beau is the brains of the operation. Now he can talk, I just do what I’m told.” The artist’s young, soon-to-be eldest son, is a clear inspiration and catalyst for many of the Nigerian-born designer’s creative endeavours; there’s the popular East London cafe and art club named BeauBeaus, as well as London Fashion Week appearances for Mowalola, music videos for charting songs, and even being brought on stage at Glastonbury by the likes of Dave and Central Cee for their 2023 summer smash ‘Sprinter’. Not too shabby for the toddler, but that youthful and playful spirit is a sentiment that will remain with this investment.

In the last few weeks, Kick Game teased Slawn’s arrival by tagging the doors of their flagship store in Covent Garden and making a short film showing him and his son Beau taking over the retailer’s office—so now we all know who’s running this ship.

At just 23 years old, Slawn has become a cultural and artistic pioneer of sorts, predominantly in the UK but also globally. After redesigning classic Rolex models, whispers of a Supreme collab, and having his work displayed in notable art institutions such as Sotheby’s alongside grime legend Skepta, he is establishing himself as an innovative artist for this generation.

For Kick Game, this investment signals a new era for a company that has been the backbone of British streetwear, fashion, and music culture across the 2020s and beyond. Slawn’s investment ensures a fresh, exciting chapter for the company thanks to his rich experience in art and design, demonstrating that Kick Game has its fingers on the pulse of the cultures in its respective fields.

I guess we'll see what this dynamic partnership will surprise us with in the near future...
