Montreal artist Skiifall has announced a new EP today titled Lovers Til I'm Gone as well as shared brand new single 'Mystery Man'. The EP will solely be produced by Kenny Beats and will be released on January 15th.
Lovers Til I'm Gone explores a new territory for Skiifall. Following up from an abundance of singles and a project in 2023, he has collaborated with other luminary artists such as Knucks, Lil Silva, BADBADNOTGOOD and Charlotte Day Wilson to name a few. With this new project, he will be keeping longtime producer YAMA//SATO close by but it will predominantly be Kenny Beats who will spur forward the production and touching into into lover's rock and reggae taken straight from his roots as he spent time in both Montreal and St. Vincent as a child.
With the release of 'Mystery Man' alongside the Rubberband-directed music video, it follows single 'Problems' released in October. Elsewhere on the EP, Jorja Smith features on 'Her World' that showcases her effortless vocals on a tropical-sounding beat.
Speaking about Lovers Til I'm Gone, Skiifall shares:
“When I first sat with Kenny Beats he spoke openly about how wanting to honor his father had inspired him to release solo music that ultimately became his debut album Louie. That conversation gave me the inspiration and confidence to try making music that my own mother would like listening to, since my earliest music wasn’t something she could relate to. A combination of the reggae that she played in my house when I was a child and Kenny pushing me to take artistic risks that ultimately resulted in Lovers Til I’m Gone, a project that I’m extremely proud of and excited to share with the world.”
