Signalling A New Beginning Novelist Returns With 'Dont Wake Me'

Kwadwo Quentin Kankam or better known to all of us as Novelist releases an introspective new single ‘Don’t Wake Me Up’ as he takes a moment to gain clarity on the mic. The song perfectly encapsulates the new beginning feel that everyone feels when September comes around.

Earlier this year the South Londoner released his project 4 THA HOMIEZ and now keeping the momentum going with the new single ‘Don’t Wake Me’. Sampling Christopher Williams' soulful 'I'm Dreamin' Novelist shows that he's influenced by a variety of musical genres including New Jack Swing and R&B. The sample provides an almost spiritual feel and gives the impression that after all the struggle Novelist is finally in a position to live his dream.

Novelist reflects on his journey with smooth rap verses on an 808 backline, touching on near-death experiences, being on the block and days in his youth when life was simpler when he was just a “sweet boy who just wanted a girl” but he also talks about his wishes for the future.

In the visuals accompanied, we see shots of Novelist riding around Brokley in a convertible, enjoying himself with family and friends in his backyard.

Also, earlier this year Novelist featured on Mall Grab's track ‘Times Changed’ also featuring East London legend D Double E.

Known to express himself within the sub-genres of rap such as grime and garage Novelist has worked with UK royalty such as Skepta on his Mercury-winning Konnichiwa album and legends Chase & Status.
