Sienna Spiro releases 'BUTTERFLY EFFECT' and announces debut EP 'SINK NOW, SWIM LATER'

London-based singer/songwriter Sienna Spiro has released her new single ‘BUTTERFLY EFFECT’, on  Friday January 24th, accompanied by the announcement of her debut EP SINK NOW, SWIM LATER.

Beginning her musical journey at the tender age of 10 years old, Spiro has always been connected to her pen, writing soulful songs that tug on heartstrings inspired and influenced by some of her notable influences such as Frank Sinatra and Etta James. After releasing her debut single 'Need Me' in 2024 , she gained the attention of fellow musicians SZA, Snoh Aalegra and more. Yet to reach her twenties and only nineteen years old, Spiro has proved that her artistry is developed well beyond her years with each melody and  track she graces. 'MAYBE.' has not only gathered distinct attention on the internet, but has surpassed over 25 Million streams on Spotify, putting her in a prime position to gather a collective of loyal listeners.

BUTTERFLY EFFECT has been released alongside the announcement of her debut EP, ‘SINK NOW, SWIM LATER’. The single is reminiscent of the sensation of the same name that describes how small changes can result in unpredictable consequences over a period of time.

Opening up against a music box-like piano medley, Spiro’s sharp voice cuts through the instrumentals, enforcing that this track will be nothing short of a display of her vocal agility alongside heart cutting lyrics that describe the attachment that love leaves, even once it is lost. ‘If I leave for the summer you won't find no lover will you?’ Spiro’s voice decorates the simplicity of the piano melody with questions asked in reference to stopping a butterfly from being able to fly. ‘Should I clip your wings?’

Her voice flows up into a natural crescendo of frustration and passion in which the singer questions her intentions, and contemplates how one bad decision has lead her to where she has found herself -

‘If only I had left that evening, never would have craved the feeling, never would have come to see you,’

She continues to contemplate what could have been, if one tiny decision hadn't been made - just like the butterfly effect. ‘If I never heard that name, I could look at you the same, I can't afford to lose you honey, baby you pretend to love me,’

Juxtaposing lyrics reflect the state of mind that the singer details, making doubt and regret feel almost tangible, a hot and burning ball of matter wanted to be discarded.  I’m way too sentimental, but God you look so gentle, surely it won't hurt to stay the night;’

The track closes with the piano’s medley embracing silence from Spiro, until she comes back to close matters once and for all ‘Wanna know you like we were’, she gently croons, ‘Can't you pretend … again?’

A track of heartfelt truth and exploring the feelings of regret and the desire for reconciliation is Spiro’s way of prepping her listeners for her debut EP.  for Spiro, the year has just begun, and so has her journey.
