Sebastián Mayor's musical journey is a tapestry woven from his formative years on the Portuguese coast, his teenage experiences in South America, and his current life in London. This eclectic background has culminated in a unique fusion of bossa nova, soulful minimalist grooves, crooner-esque vocals, Latin percussion, and contemporary-casual songwriting that is reminiscent of Mac Demarco. As Sebastián explains, "'Answers' speaks to that young-adulthood feeling of questions outpacing answers, and learning to live with that, even celebrating it."

The EP's title, "Second Serve," reflects Sebastián's philosophy of embracing imperfection and second chances. He elaborates, "Second Serve is about second best things, second best takes, second best attempts; which are so often the actual best. This is how I cope with my nagging perfectionism. These songs are about making mistakes, trying and not having the answers. An ever-longing feeling of just barely getting over the net; it’s a second-serve attempt at my life."
