Sam Gellaitry x Stone Island: A Sonic Approach to Performance Design

Stone Island has spent decades refining an identity that moves between function, research, and cultural cachet. The SS '025 Stellina Collection, in collaboration with Sam Gellaitry, builds on this lineage; advancing what the brand has always done best: material innovation, modular construction, performance driven detailing.

The Scottish DJ and producer leads the campaign as an artist whose work is known for deconstructing genres into something elastic and unpredictable. His approach to sound, reworking structure while maintaining control, mirrors closely to how Stellina treats fabrication. Outerwear built for movement; technical, layered, adaptable. This collaboration reflects a shared ethos of refinement through experimentation.

Fashion’s relationship with technical gear has moved beyond hype driven collaborations with modular, adaptable clothing no longer a niche interest.

Stellina operates in this space, integrating removable pockets, anti water seams, wrinkle free insulation, GORE TEX waterproofing, and PrimaLoft® recycled knit into a single, cohesive system.

Each detail is built for movement: waterproofing that breathes, insulation that holds heat without bulk, seams that block moisture without restricting flexibility, Pockets that detach and reconfigure depending on what the day requires. Performance is not an afterthought but an embedded function of the garment itself.

Utility in fashion typically follows larger cycles; and when the world becomes unpredictable, clothing always adapts. Economic downturns, climate shifts, cultural fatigue; each era of uncertainty bringing with it a renewed focus on function and garments that last longer and work harder.

The NPD Group’s 2024 report tracks a 22% increase in technical outerwear sales, pointing to a turn in consumer priorities.

Fewer, better pieces and clothing that earns its place in a wardrobe.

Often times, performance materials have become shorthand for brands looking to establish credibility in utility wear with GORE TEX shells, taped seams, recycled insulation and various other technical terms added as surface level signifiers. But Stone Island does not borrow from function, and rather, builds from it; with an archive rooted in material research, its ethos has always aligned with those who refine and rework, making Gellaitry an extension of the same philosophy.

The SS '025 Stellina Collection launches 4 March 2025.
