Sabrina Claudio Unveils New Single ‘Need U To Need Me’

Miami-native songstress Sabrina Claudio has returned with her highly anticipated new single 'Need U To Need Me', marking her first release in partnership with independent record label EMPIRE. 

Claudio is no stranger to boundaries. Although she lays them down as gracefully as feathers descending to the ground, her lyricism is hard-hitting and starkly sincere as seen on tracks like ‘Wanna Know’, from Claudio’s 2017 album About Time.

‘Need U To Need Me’ is another song written from the feelings of yearning that arise, surrounding the desire to be loved within reciprocity. Claudio compares her need to be loved as essential, "like water you drink, baby, I need you to need me."

And that fluidity is paired with dreamy production to grace the record and marry Claudio’s balladry with the soundscape as she navigates the silky lullaby-like track with equal parts honesty and longing. Questioning if she is as necessary to her partner's life as they are to hers, or merely a passer by who holds no meaning or substance in their life, Claudio knows that mere compromise undermines the depth and intensity of her love.

"I wrote ‘Need U To Need Me’ as a fear-based admission", she said. "A romanticized translation of longing and yearning to be a necessity to the ones you love most. While most stigmatize needing as a form of weakness, I believe admitting that needing someone or desiring to be needed is a form of strength that can potentially breed a sense of closeness and community with those you value.”

'Need U To Need Me' is accompanied by a captivating music video, where Claudio is seen besides her partner,

who is wearing angels wings, while she sings of questioning if she lies within the territory of unrequited love, adorned with a feather-like corset outfit and covered in sunlight as she looks out to the horizon. Co-directed by Clausio herself, alongside Jazmin Larracuente and Williejane Aquilina, the dream-like visual serves as the perfect addition that completes the story that 'Need U To Need Me' tells.

Raised in Miami, Florida, Claudio grew up around soulful and mature R&B. Consuming music from a. tender age, she released her debut EP Confidently Lost in 2017, followed up by the soulful full-length record About Time.

On the aforementioned 'Belong To You' stood out as a popular track that garnered millions of streams, and other standout tracks like 'Unravel Me' and 'Stand Still' proved that Claudio's artistry has always been mature beyond her years. She has collaborated wth a plethora of artists, including but not limited to The Weeknd, Mario, Alicia Keys, Sir, Khalid, and Black Coffee.

And now four projects after her debut and still possessing an undeniable level of soul, Claudio has received GRAMMY Award Wins for her writing on Beyonce's 'Plastic Off The Sofa' and Chris Brown's 'Best Ever'.
