Rimzee Cements His Status With His 'Cold Feet' Mixtape

It can be argued that Cold Feet is a measurement of Ricardo Miles better known as Rimzee’s upward trajectory into the higher tier of the UK rap echelons. It lacks neither depth nor poise as the East Londoner gives voice to his thoughts joined by K-Trap, Tiggs Da Author, LB, Giggs, Skinz, Afro B, Emeli Sande, Maverick Sabre, Nemzzz, Zion Forster, Amun, Frogzy, Raph Racks, Born Trapy and Young Adz.

Showing his versatility, the melodic ‘Thinking Out Loud’ is made up of sampled vocals, percussion and loud bass. You immedietly get an insight into Rimzee’s state of mind of the pressure of being a provider for his ends and keeping focused. Young Adz joins him by singing the hook.

The Cold Feet mixtape pays homage to figures that have shaped the sound of the scene. Giggs and Snap Capone are two of the generals of the rap scene that have woven their stories into the tapestry. They provided the sense of real rap that fans crave on ‘Juggin’ and ‘Life On The Endz’ respectably.

On ‘Juggin’ Rimzee teams up with Peckham legend Giggs who demonstrates his ability and proves why he is simply one of the best to touch a mic. Clever wordplay like “we’re animals like Narnia and it’s a chronicle”. The track is tied together with Tiggs Da Author smooth and addictive hook

Leading up to the release of the mixtape ‘Unruly’, ‘Intro’, ‘Entrepreneur’, ‘Cold Feet freestyle’ and ‘Expensive Pain’ were all dropped to build excitement for the project.

‘Unruly’ the first single to be released in anticipation of the project faithfully stays true to the themes of the mixtape. Rimzee is transparent with us as he shares reality about life on the roads with his no-nonsense and real approach.

The hard lyrics and subtle wordplay are transferred to ‘Entrepreneur’ a nod to Rimzee’s attitude towards investment whilst highlighting the rapper’s work rate.

The rapper opened his own restaurant Burgers and Bagels in Fulham last year. He is also involved with other business ventures such as a property portfolio, a car rental business, and his own record label and recording studio.

‘For Richer For Poorer’ is one of the standout tracks of the project. It’s an intelligent way to challenge people who want a real rapper but it’s the families and loved ones of those rappers who get punished.

The tack features Sheffield-born rapper Skinz on an emotive piano-based production. Skinz on the track takes accountability for himself and his past actions, whilst also rapping about the materialistic rewards he gets for his girl holding him down. Rimzee’s verse touches on the birth of his daughter and the relationship he has with his partner.

On ‘Morals and Principles’ Rimzee tells us the extent to which his life has been entwined with violence detailing skipping school, being involved at a young age and prison. He creatively demonstrates how one’s morals are subject to one’s environment

Penning a love letter to his ends in ‘Dear Southworld Road’ he details the complex relationship that he has with the place where he grew up. “ I can't be with you but I can rep you” implies that even though he can't live there anymore he’ll still carry the lessons learnt and have a strong affiliation with Clapham.

Maverick Sabre’s soulful vocals also add a texture that connects with listeners and perfectly resembles the emotion that Rimzee conveys in his verses.

On ‘Back 2 back’ Rimzee joins forces with the sensational LB and Drill artist K-Trap another talented voice in the game right now. Whilst widening his audience on ‘Headline’ with Manchester-born rapper Nemzzz who raps as someone still involved, Rimzee offers the youngest guidance.

The east Londoner basks in the good times with Afro B on ‘My Dwag’ but appreciates the struggle and the rain to get to the place he’s in now. Consistently in this project, Rimzee pays close attention to the journey, the lessons that were taught

More experimental in nature, ‘Tables Turn’ adopts a gospel and soul tone to the production. With a jazzy saxophone, Emeli Sande’s vocals are purely angelic, made to uplift us during the hard times.

‘5am in Clapham’, ‘Soul To Da Streets’ and ‘Irreplaceable’ are the final tracks on the album that is currently sitting at 11 in the Official UK Album Chats.

In December the East London rapper will be going on his debut headline tour starting in Glasgow and finishing at the O2 Academy Islington. The tour will last four days.
