Rhude SS22 Enters 'Monaco, With God's Help'

Rhuigi Villageñor's latest collection for Rhude is entitled 'Monaco, With God's Help', alluding to the fantastical and luxurious nature of Monaco which is reflected throughout the collection. The collection was showcased in Beverly Hills, in a mansion that was famously used in The Godfather; even before the movie became a bona fide classic in the eyes of critics and the general public alike, there was something undeniably prestigious about it and this Rhude collection is similar in that sense. Rhude is a brand that epitomises its zeitgeist, classic but modern, luxurious but not inaccessible.

Against an extravagant backdrop, Rhuigi brought the celebrity and charm of Monaco to Los Angeles. The colour palette of the collection was subtle but effective with shades of beige, white and yellow standing out. Colours are used sparsely but efficiently in the collection. Rather than reinvent the wheel, Rhude modernises traditional silhouettes and motifs in their clothes. This is particularly pertinent when we look at the array of blazers and jackets that are featured in the collection. Another stand out motif in the collection is the use of patterns. Whether its floral, paisley or pinstripe, the patterns in the collection add a necessary character to the clothes that bring them to life. Although Rhuigi plays it safe, Rhude's SS22 collection is a strong addition to Rhude's oeuvre.

A closer look at the collection:

LOOK 6

The most colourful look in the collection. The yellow leather exudes confidence, and the glasses combined with the handbag compliments the look and accentuates its sexiness. Monte Carlo personified.

LOOK 25

One of the standout looks of the collection. The blazer is innovative and futuristic with the lapel being a standout feature. Could this be the new Le Smoking? Time will tell.

LOOK 9

There has always been a preppy element to Rhude and this look is a continuation of that particular notion. This look has 'cool kid' energy written all over it. The colours are bold and the Rhude branding is unapologetically overt in a way that draws attention without attention-seeking. The shorts are a nice touch too.
