PUMA Revives the Iconic Mostro with New "Archive" Collection

PUMA is bringing back one of its most experimental designs, the Mostro, with a fresh new "Archive" collection that combines retro flair with modern-day technical updates. First introduced in 1999, the Mostro has long been celebrated for its unconventional look and unique blend of athletic and casual style, and now, in honor of its 25th anniversary, it’s making a comeback.

The Archive collection is available in two sleek colorways—“Vapor Gray/Frosted Ivory” and “Black/Strong Gray.” Each pair features a subtle faded finish that nods to the shoe’s original late ‘90s design while keeping things contemporary with technical ripstop material on the upper. This thoughtful blend of past and present results in a timeless hybrid design that remains as striking today as it was at its debut.

Key to the Mostro’s distinctive aesthetic are its signature features: the low-profile silhouette, spiked sole, and functional strap closure. These elements create a look that blends influences from different eras. The name "Mostro" itself is Italian for "monster," aptly capturing the shoe’s bold and experimental look. Borrowing design cues from the sprinting spikes of the 1960s and the laid-back surf shoes of the 1980s, the Mostro is a fusion of sport and street style that continues to defy convention.

To accompany the release of the Mostro Perf collection, PUMA has unveiled the Mostro Archive with visuals set against the sunny backdrop of Marseilles. This sun-drenched setting highlights the effortless versatility of the Mostro, from the streets to the seaside.

Available starting September 21, 2024, the latest PUMA Mostro will be available at select global retailers including KITH, Slam Jam, END. Clothing, SSENSE, SNS, and Atmos.
