"Bringing things back to a sense of celebration,” says Thornton. With that in mind, PREEN design duo Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi take us on a journey back to the Jazz Era in a short film at London Fashion Week last weekend. An engaging, detailed performance of romance, various colours used within patch-work leggings, flapper-style dresses in floral prints and shimmery dresses all available to view in their latest resort 2022 collection. This stunning selection produced has made a great impression, keeping the audience intrigued and wanting to know more.
Taking the inspiration from British fashion, portrait and war photographer Cecil Beaton, the duo gained their influence by his earliest work shot in black and white imagery of his sisters and friends. They set out to capture a similar look to emphasize the romance in the collection from their modern viewpoint creating a hint of romanticism merged with a fun, uplifting, jazzy dress sense that brings out the brand's essence in portraying an effortless sense of energy in their creations.
With the use of various colours and shine coming together, the influence of Beaton’s images of costume parties and pantomimes played a part in this collection. From here, the duo created huge pierrot, on-show statement sleeves, use of draping techniques, 1920’s inspired ruffle collars, and lace head to toe gowns. Models look prepared and ready for the party hour in bright sequin shimmery dresses, harlequin patterned tops intertwined with PREEN’s two decades of fashion experience in garment manipulation and proportions.
With the success of the latest collection, the duo incorporates a sustainable nature to their selection. Rummaging through their archives and finding old materials became beneficial and demonstrated a more authentic silhouette made from vintage clothing to trench coats with the added fringes made from vegan leather.
Still today, the brand continues to go above and beyond with their designs and going forward, they are determined to keep in mind the drive to present modern, effortless chic in their design creations.
