Louis Vuitton has presented unique, interesting and classic designs into the world since 1854. The finest materials, Innovation and timeless style are centrefolds to the iconic brand. The Maison is committed to the spirit of its founder, Louis Vuitton. Having “invented a genuine Art of Travel through luggage, bags and accessories”, their newest Fine Jewellery collection is aligned with their ethos of creativity, posited alongside practical elegance.

We were met by a grandiose white curtain at Hôtel Volney, starchly separating Parisian streets from the intricate SS25' presentation inside. The venue was lined with security dressed to the nines in fresh-pressed suits as they awaited attendees. Once greeted at the entrance, we walked into the event which was set in a gorgeous arched room. The collection was positioned in the centre, surrounded by half partition walls. Attendants stood nearby to explain the works in detail and assist guests in trying on the pieces. The collection was in presence of Francesca Amfitheatrof, Louis Vuitton’s Artistic Director of Jewelry and Watches. The pieces are updated, graphic, presenting a welcomed new chapter for Louis Vuitton’s prominent Damier motif.

Over the years the brand has continually expanded its collaborative spirit by including various architects, artists, and designers in the development of their many products. Focusing on ready-to-wear garments, footwear, accessories, jewellery, fragrance and otherwise, offerings are expansive and dedicated to refinement. Amfitheatrof explains that the collection is more than just another diamond series, she states its “not just about the stones, but the pattern that they create”. Noteworthy for their malleability - the works are designed to emulate a softness, not unlike a cashmere sweater against skin.

The newest collection comprises twelve items in total, offered in white and yellow gold colourways. A highlight of the collection is its reimagining of the classic tennis bracelet. Diamonds appear, dotting between adjacent gold square detail. Playing into the casual luxury of the classic jewellery item, LV implemented a new standard of production. The bracelets are crafted to align with the wearer’s movements. Fluidly, the piece adapts like a second skin.

Rings are offered in three band sizes while bracelets come in two. Diamonds are stacked down a central geometric line, presenting as an identical pattern across each of the pieces in the collection. A single round pendant is set along a thin gold chain, showcasing the alternating diamond pattern, lastly a pair of gold hoop earrings present a similar design. Each of the jewellery items is curated to be stack-able and paired with previous collections.

Louis Vuitton is a well-known industry heavyweight with many ongoing projects and offerings. Continuing with its namesake pieces, they wanted to offer their clientele something eye-catching in its own right, while also playing onto standard LV elegance. A perfect balance between classic treatments and forward movement, the brand highlights that this collection is particularly unisex. Thus marking a new chapter for the direction of fine jewellery at the Maison.

Amfitheatrof further states, “Le Damier de Louis Vuitton is the creation of a new era, a modern collection designed to last forever”. The limited series presents a beautiful series of offerings, which is designed to be added to in time. Louis Vuitton plans to incorporate additional colourways and designs into future capsule collections.

The Maison does it again with a noteworthy presentation at PFW SS25’. Louis Vuitton strikes a particularly difficult line between timelessness and modern intrigue. In today’s fine jewellery industry there is much to be said for a collection that can effortlessly dance between classic elegance and newfound allure. Le Damier de Louis Vuitton achieves just that. We look forward to seeing how future collections are elevated to undoubtedly new heights.
