PFW AW25: Issey Miyake

In a city buzzing with the theatrical highs of Men's Fashion Week, Issey Miyake's ‘IM Men Fall 2025’ show offered something entirely distinct: an orderly, hypnotic performance on the human body's relationship with cloth. The show, held today at the RÉFECTOIRE DES CORDELIERS, showcased the house's brilliance in transforming simple materials into wearable masterpieces.

The stark white runway was accented by giant square panel robots that gently spun as if to observe the collection. Conceived by Japanese artist Tokujin Yoshioka, these sleek machines drew inspiration from a simple piece of cloth. “When worn, [the cloth] becomes a sculpture, fusing traditional craftsmanship techniques and sophisticated modern technology,” Yoshioka explained. The result? A collection that felt both futuristic and deeply rooted in tradition.

Models wove effortlessly through the kinetic sculptures, their garments gliding like modern kites in flight. The collection celebrated the harmony between fabric and form, with shapes emerging naturally from the material itself. Sharp architectural tailoring was seamlessly paired with free-flowing trousers and generously cut underlayers, crafting a wardrobe as suited to daily life as it was to the runway.

Colour played a starring role, with rich hues such as Cobalt blue, burnt orange, deep purple, and bright yellow orchestrating a striking visual symphony. This vibrant palette was no accident but merely the result of a deliberate, non-inflammatory fiber-dyeing procedure that demonstrates Issey Miyake's commitment to sustainability. By reducing environmental impact while delivering long-lasting vibrancy, the brand provides more than just clothing - it offers a conscious investment in timeless style.
