PFW: AW24 VICTORIA BECKHAM

Victoria Beckham, known for her impeccable taste and iconic style, showcased her Autumn/Winter 2024 collection at Paris Fashion Week. 

Beckham found herself contemplating the concept of the wardrobe as a direct wellspring of inspiration, a notion that materialised in the form of deconstructed jackets and trousers reminiscent of garments hanging from a closet. The flowing volume of a dress mirrored the billowing motion of sheets drying on a clothesline, caught and swayed by the wind. 

As the lights dimmed and the runway came to life, it became apparent that Beckham was steering away from her usual aesthetic. Instead, she presented a collection that dared to defy expectations, offering a fresh perspective on modern fashion.

Among the notable pieces were jumpers with strikingly high necklines, boxy blazers exuding effortless elegance, and wide-leg trousers adding a contemporary flair to classic tailoring. Yet, what truly caught the eye was the intricate design of the jumpers and blazers, which appeared more decorative than practical, challenging conventional notions of clothing functionality.

While I praise Beckham's bold experimentation as a refreshing departure from the norm, I am not convinced it made the impact she expected. I admire the creativity behind the avant-garde approach, However,  some of the garments seemed to overwhelm the models and did not look quite right.

One other element of the collection was the unexpected styling of the blazers, presented not as wardrobe essentials but as statement accessories. This departure from Beckham's usual emphasis on timeless sophistication and wearability left me feeling puzzled and somewhat disappointed, yearning for the classic elegance that had become synonymous with the brand

While Victoria Beckham's AW24 show undoubtedly sparked intrigue and discussion, it may not go down in history as one of her most memorable presentations. Nevertheless, it stands as a testament to the designer's willingness to push boundaries and challenge conventions.
