Orion Sun Beams with Adoration at London's Scala

On the final night of her tour in King Cross’ Scala, Orion Sun may have provided one of the most exceptionally wonderful shows to close off her musical expedition across the UK and EU to present her latest project in real life. The energy across the sea of people was magnetic as they buzzed in waiting for Orion to grace the stage.

With her most recent project Orion, released after a four-year hiatus, it's a stunning display of her intelligence and emotional depth. It’s a heartbreakingly honest concoction of healing, self-worth and intimacy. As each track provides her thoughtfulness, she uses the vulnerability of journaling to allow us to enter her solar system and produces songs that clearly resonate with us so we can also, understand our own individuality, vulnerability and truth.

Moving between fast paced, jazz-infused R&B tracks such as ‘Lightning’ and ‘Sweet’ with her live band besides her and gradually slowing us down with ‘Dirty Dancer’, Orion Sun kept the crowd dancing all night long with a mostly energy-filled atmosphere. Blending a mix of her older discography and newer music, Orion Sun’s appreciation and love towards her fans was admirable.

Although all tracks she performed were welcomed by her close-knit fanbase screaming all the lyrics back to her, personal tracks such as ‘Concrete’ touched us deeply as she connected with the crowd, letting us sing along and holding people’s hands in the crowd. Taking time to perform short snippets with an on-stage MPC of some tracks that she couldn’t fit into the set list, she gave us her full self on this final night and then some.

With her demanding charisma on stage, she felt inclined to join us in the crowd, venturing into the stalls and across the venue, mic in hand and performing her final track, much to everyone’s excitement. Her finale brought her close to tears as the show came to a close as her team and show openers joined her on stage to congratulate her. It’s so rewarding to be a part of Orion Sun’s world.
