“There is lots of ground to cover, one foot and then the other” is the opening line to ‘It Isn’t Perfect But It Might Be’ the latest offering from Multi-BRIT and Mercury-nominated singer-songwriter Olivia Dean, who explores the process of falling in love.
Released via Capitol Records, this song was created with the next instalment of romantic comedy, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy in mind as it’s the official lead single.
In a romantic ballad, Olivia is allowed to flourish with her distinct soulful tone and personality as she expresses her vulernability when falling in love in an act of thoughtful introspection.
Playful, earnest and honest, she is open about the growing pains which occur when getting to know somebody new, and also the fear of being open. A sentiment that is reflected in the synth composition and the warm acoustic guitar pattern.
Speaking on the song Olivia said: “I’ve always loved the Bridget Jones films, they’re timeless classics. After seeing Mad About The Boy I was so moved by the journey we’ve watched Bridget go on over the years. ‘It Isn’t Perfect But It Might Be’ is about giving yourself permission to love again after grief, and trusting that things might just work out after all, even if it’s not how you expected them to. This is the first time I’ve been a part of something like this and I can’t wait for it to come out!”
You will also be able to hear the Londoner’s 2023 single ‘Dive’, taken from her critically acclaimed debut studio album Messy and you’ll be able to watch the film in cinemas from today.
