New Wave Joins Reebok On Wilderness Retreat To Test New Nano X2 Adventure

While our go-to gym shoes do just the trick indoors – they are often not suited to vigorous outdoor activity.

The various terrains and at times unpredictable weather conditions outside make the shoes we choose crucial to our safety and the quality of our workouts. This often means that those wanting to take their exercise beyond the four walls of a gym have to invest in a collection of suitable shoes for varied activities.

Reebok’s latest release, the Nano X2 Adventure, tackles the great outdoors and all of the elements that come with it.

Branded as a ‘one-shoe-fits-all’ approach to fitness footwear, the new silhouette is created for various types of outdoor activity – offering a more versatile alternative to the everyday running trainer that we’re used to seeing.

Available in three colourways, the Nano X2 Adventure trainers are durable yet responsive thanks to Floatride Energy foam material in the forefoot. With an update to the heel collar of the trainer, comfortability is ensured during activity.

New Wave joined Reebok on the ultimate wilderness retreat to put the Nano X2 Adventure to the test – and find out first hand just how durable they are.

Day 1

Taken away from the hustle and bustle of the city, we were driven to the grand Wilderness Reserve in Saxmundham, Suffolk for two days of specially curated outdoor activities. The estate, which doubles as a long-term conservation and restoration project, consists of 8000 acres of pastures, lakes and woodland – making it the ideal location for us to train whilst reconnecting with nature.

Day one consisted of a wilderness biking session along the grassy terrains and hills of the countryside – while taking in the surreal views that surround Wilderness Reserve’s historic properties. To cool off, we stopped at the lake for a wild swim and refreshments before cycling back to the house.

Following some much-needed downtime, the team headed back out to the pastures for a bonfire as we watched the sunset. Roasted marshmallows and drinks by the fire were accompanied by a thrilling axe-throwing activity before settling in for dinner. Thanks to the Nano x2 Adventure’s reflective materials, we did not have to worry about our visibility to others as the night began to settle in.

The first thing we noticed after a full day is how we did not have to ‘break in’ the new Reebok silhouette. At times, sporting brand new shoes for lengthy periods of exercise or walking can very quickly lead to discomfort as the shoe moulds to the shape of the wearer’s foot.

This was not a problem with the Nano X2 Adventure – the team was able to jump right into activities without the worry of any blistering or pain associated with first-time wearing.

Day 2

The team was up bright and early the next day for more wilderness activities – and this time, the competition was hot with the introduction of woodland team games. From a sweat-inducing bootcamp to an intense few rounds of archery tag and a competitive tug-of-war match – we found the Nano X2 Adventure to easily withstand every outdoor challenge thrown at us.

What’s more, is the comfort and security that the new silhouette provides. The Nano X2 Adventure’s lightweight feel made it easy to forget that we were wearing them – in fact, the team even wore the trainers for a cool-down yoga session!

While the nylon ripstop upper provides the foot with extra support and protection, the raised lug outsole ensures that the wearer has enough grip – regardless of the surface or weather conditions.

Though, there was a slight noticeable gap between the back of the shoe and the ankle. This was no issue during the two-day retreat, nor did it affect our performance – however, it is something to take note of when training on rockier grounds or soil, as some debris may make its way into the shoe.

To close off our retreat, we enjoyed some more downtime and were treated to a mouth-watering brunch.

Thanks to Reebok for inviting us on a great trip!
