Naya Yeira Makes Debut With Introspective Single 'Peace Of Mind'

Desiring a clean break but facing internal resistance, Naya Yeira rejects the romantic situation she fell in because it no longer waters into her own cup on her debut single, ‘Peace of Mind’ but finds herself dealing with the residue of emotions.

A refreshing vocalist, ‘Peace of Mind’ is the attempt to escape from a continuous cycle, but despite her resolve to end it, she cannot help but let moments of weakness sneak into the cracks.

Released via Random Records, London-based, Jakarta-born artist is caught in two minds on the beat produced by Superbeats. Undertones of piano chords and a rhythmic bass create space for elements of R&B, pop, and hip-hop to create a distinct soundscape. Taking inspiration from earlier decades of music there is even a funky breakdown near the end of the track.

The 23-year-old, explaining the song says: “Peace of Mind is a song about putting yourself first and letting go of things in your life that don’t serve you anymore. When I wrote this song, it completely helped me to let go and never think of it again, and I hope that it can do the same for whoever is listening to it,” 

The accompanying video,  also leans into the retro 90s nostalgic asthetic. Speaking about it, Naya says  ‘I wanted to capture Y2K cybercore vibes with everything happening inside a glitchy Nokia 3310. It was like being forced to watch weird spam memes and my videos. I worked closely with the director on the animation to bring this vision to life,’ Naya explains.
