The talent on display at the recently-reopened O2 Academy Brixton this past week was quite staggering. Occupying the early slot, Nectar Woode stepped up alongside her band, and with guitar in hand, and delivered a soft, yet powerful display of musicianship. Songs from her latest EP 'Head Above Water' particularly stood out, as it appears as though Nectar Woode continues to go from strength-to-strength.

Arriving next, Sienna Spiro was excellent, with a remarkable display of talent for only nineteen years of age. She delivered tracks from her recent EP, 'SINK NOW SWIM LATER', with the assured skill of a much more seasoned performer. With a lot of raw talent, it will be interesting to see how her music progresses.

Before long, it was time for the main event. Accompanied by dancers and full band, Nao arrived on stage to an uproarious response from her dedicated fanbase. 'Wildflowers', from her new album Jupiter, was the opener - an energetic, uplifting start. Using white ribbons, her dance duo complemented her varied performance style excellently. A remarkably versatile singer and performer, Nao delivered heart-string-pulling ballads such as 'Light Years', and with equal ease danced around the stage to energetic hits like 'Firefly'.

One highlight was a stripped back take on '30 Something', a stand-out track from her recently released debut album. Nao and her long-term guitarist Andy Vickery exhibited a creative symbiosis, as heartfelt lyrics on the truth of entering your thirties filled the room. The planet that inspired Nao's recent work was projected on the stage's enormous backdrop, as she explained its astrological significance to the audience.

As the set progressed the energy of the room was embraced, as screaming fans experienced Nao entering the crowd to dance alongside them. Nao managed to come across as charmingly shy, and outlandishly confident all at once, and the contradiction was captivating.

The set rounded-off with Nao reaching for some of the biggest hits in deep-pocketed discography. 'Bad Blood', 'Firefly' and more cemented Nao's star quality, as her, along with her band and back-up dancers, kicked up into another gear. An immersive and awe-inspiring show from an artist of the highest quality. Nao returned to the forefront of our minds with the beginning of the Jupiter era, proving her brilliance yet again, and her O2 Academy Brixton show was the cherry on top of the cake.
