Intersecting pop, rock and R&B to express her own feelings of heartbreak on her latest track ‘it don’t hit no more’. The twenty-one-year-old New Jersey-based singer N3WYRKLA brings a distinct and experimental approach that was perfected on SELFishly enTITLED, her six-track debut EP released last summer.
Wanting to explore her distinct sound further On ‘it don’t hit no more’ there’s a fluidity to N3WYRKLA as we witness her enthralling storytelling abilities and her multi-facetedness.
Her tone shifts throughout transitions from holding smoothly executed notes that are reminiscent to a slow jam ballad before expertly breaking off to a more pop flow as the emotions overflow providing a nostalgic early 2000s feel to it that’s backed up by the acoustic guitar riffs and synth.
Speaking about the meaning behind the track, N3WYRKLA shares "the song is about being fed up with someone and just being over the situation after going through it with them. When I'm finally over someone, everything they do is just ehh. I'm not being stimulated mentally, emotionally, or physically so it's just like it don’t hit no more. I'm not hype about you, and once I'm off you…I'm off you.
Reflecting on the past N3WYRKLA revisits the good times but measuring it against the present she comes to the conclusion that her love interest is falling short.
In the accompanying music video in relation to this, we see her newfound empowerment manifested in the images of self-care, we see the New Jersey singer enjoys activities such as yoga and reconnecting with the wilderness.
