Miraa May Shares Intimate New Single 'Girlfriend'

Sometimes when a relationship ends you can do nothing but wish the person the best, take the high road – even when they have done you wrong, be the better person.

And what’s what North London-based and Algerian-born singer-songwriter Miraa May  does as she shares her latest single ‘Girlfriend’ by taking control of the narrative.

Sparking her return the MOBO award nominee has since built on a recent string of releases like No Bad Energy’, and ‘Miskeena’ after a break from music following the release of her debut album two years ago Tales Of a Miracle.

However, ‘Girlfriends’ is quite tongue in cheek with honest lyricism– Miraa alludes to the reasoning behind the breakup, as the Tottenham songstress airs her past out as she reflects on the romantic experience, expressing her perspective and also her hope that he has moved on, like she has.

Co-produced by Malik N1nty Five, Benny Henny, Wesley Curtis & CTAG craft a minimalistic beat to allow Miraa’s raw voice show her vulnerability in a intimate manner.

The track hones a pure R&B sound, as she sings “I hope that you find a new girlfriend girlfriend / maybe that will keep you preoccupied / almost washed the makeup off of my eyes wont cry.”

We cannot wait to see how else Miraa has grown as a person, and as a musician, and how if these singles signal  the start of something new.
