As FENDI approaches its centenary year, nostalgia and anticipation converge, marking a monumental milestone for the luxury fashion house. Silvia Venturini Fendi, Artistic Director of Accessories and Menswear, envisions FENDI as a dynamic time capsule, reflecting decades of Italian craftsmanship and innovation. This vision is exquisitely encapsulated in the Men’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection, which pays homage to the universal, reinterpreting House codes that predate FENDI’s first men’s silhouette in 1990.
The collection redefines contemporary masculinity through modern luxury, transforming traditional wardrobe pillars into sartorial masterpieces. Uniforms once symbolic of an international elite are deconstructed and reimagined in a palette of powdery shades: sherbet, mist, ivory, caramel, buttermilk, soft blues, natural indigo, black, and forest green. This evolution gives rise to the FENDI Club, its crest adorning garments like a fantasy coat-of-arms, blending sports and ceremony into a cohesive narrative.
At the heart of this collection lies the Selleria stitch, a technique inherited from Roman saddlers in 1925. This stitch is artistically scaled and interpreted across various textures: broken pinstripe suiting jacquard, tonal FF logos on linen and plush fabrics, and surface treatments on Japanese boro denim. The minimalist frame of crisp wool outerwear and leather goods further accentuates the collection's homage to the past.
Subtle volumes and contoured details breathe life into traditional garments. The collection features ample cloth bomber jackets, fluid trench coats, and 3-button blazers paired with slashed trousers. Innovative designs include poplin shirt sleeves that can be worn long or short, twisted polo plackets, and asymmetric silk knits that unbutton down the shoulder, creating a sense of airy modularity. Over pleated shorts, long, patch-pocket overshirts with silk ties are layered beneath short summer jackets crafted from linen, leather, Madras check cotton, and ultralight suede.
The Accessories collection for Spring/Summer 2025 echoes the season’s Selleria theme. Highlights include the Peekaboo ISeeU Soft bag, supple diagonal shoppers, the new zippered Baguette Double crossbody bag, and a patchwork Baguette crafted from multicoloured offcuts from FENDI ateliers. Whipstitch details embellish the contrast-panelled FENDI Force sneakers, moulded lug-sole loafers, and patent leather or wax thread-embroidered slip-on flats.
Silvia Venturini Fendi’s vision for the Men’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection not only honors FENDI’s illustrious history but also sets a course for a bright and innovative future. As the centenary celebration approaches, FENDI stands as a testament to timeless Italian craftsmanship and the ever-evolving landscape of luxury fashion.
