MFW SS25: Marni

Taking Milan Fashion Week by storm is the Swiss brand Marni previewing its Spring Summer 2025 collection—a methodical madness of Marni’s DNA silhouettes and playful hints of Francesco’s style.

Arpeggiated minor melodies decorated the show played on not one but three pianos. Held within the brand’s headquarters and arranged with wooden seats for celebrity guests from Jack Harlow to Maya Jama, the highly anticipated beginning show of MFW was set to continue to impress from the entrance of Francesco Risso’s dimension.

Controversy from fashion conglomerate ‘The Business of Fashion’ claimed Marni as one of the designers that saved Milan Fashion Week bringing the true essence of Milanese style and authenticity of the city’s talent this season. In a world revolving around the caricatures and cartoon styles of Risso’s creative mind, we see articles of sailor-uniform tailoring and monochromatic looks.

Both male and female models wear poignant collars drawing from again what feels like an uninformative traditional dress reevaluated for expressive modern fashion. The final touches to the model’s playful makeup and thin brows add the necessary detail to finish off the storytelling elements of the show.

Structured pencil skirts, over-exaggerated hats and leather pieces, create an expensive yet child-like mix. Each look compliments the previous, pairing loafers with high hem-lined trousers and patterned high heels with a-lined dresses. A theatrical show honouring A list of guests to view this spring-summer collection recalling Pilot Season looks and exquisite accessories were needed during a week that felt as though we were missing elegance and character.

Timeless suit cuts, bold reds, nautical colours, oversized blazers matched oversized oval frame sunglasses and textures were big players in this show. Irina Shayk walked the catwalk in an A-line suede dress with a draped baby pink trench swinging from her forearm. The collection possessed elegance disrupted by Marni’s contrasting textures that define the brand’s unique style.
