Loyle Carner returns with new single, ‘all i need / in my mind’

Loyle Carner has shared a doule offering with, ‘all i need / in my mind’ to introduce to us groundbreaking new sounds and perspectives, adding to his portfolio and allowing us to listen to him like we never have before.

It's not an understatement to say that Loyle has influenced a generation like no other. ‘A Little Late’, his EP in 2013 featuring hits such as ‘October’, dominated British listenership as a rising star flew onto the platform with poise and panache.

Three record-breaking and award-winning albums followed and his popularity couldn’t be clearer at this point in time. He’s become a pioneer of equality, creativity and persistence.

Now Loyle has planted a new seed in his discography, forming new roots in his already extensive soil of inventiveness.

Opening with ‘all i need’, Loyle fluctuates between images of anger and hope. He meshes his lyrically poetic flow with a fusion of breakbeat rhythms that rise and fall, accompanied by a hint of rock. An alternative twist pierced this track and it feels like a blending of Loyle and King Krule. He’s confidently exploring different avenues which have led him down innovative paths.

‘all i need’ is followed by the dream-like ‘in my mind’ which transports the listener to plush, warm surroundings as we hear Loyle’s raw and soulful singing voice dominate the track. A hazy and therapeutic track which makes you levitate, Loyle has found the secret recipe for eclectic songmaking. The most beautiful part about this track is that his son, Hugo, who his hit 2022 album is named after, was balanced upon his shoulders clutching the lyrics sheet while the piece was recorded. It creates a symbolic image of two generations sharing an incredibly intimate moment. Loyle holds onto this new life, while letting go of past ghosts.

Having already been confirmed to headline Glastonbury’s iconic The Other Stage in June, Loyle’s creative freedom has shown no boundaries in other forms. He is set to make his acting debut in Mint, a BBC drama from BAFTA-nominated Scrapper director Charlotte Regan.

What Loyle does best is keep his work is personal. He lifts the curtain of his mind and lets his audience bask in his thoughts. He never changes who he is. The same Loyle, the same important voice.
