Still reeling from the love lost, Lojay cannot help hoping for the best for his partner despite the hurt he still feels for how they ended on his new single 'MOTO'.
The instrumentation is slowly paced, the beat mimicking the fragility of the heart and Lojay's distinctive vocals add a rawness to the track that at times feels that the afrobeat singer is at times close to breaking down.
Intimately reflecting on the past year of his life, the atmosphere constructed from a gentle electric guitar rift and the softly played afrobeat percussion that the artist himself produced with the help of Elementz and AOD, create the perfect soundscape of an aching heart.
And like the Nigerian artist, you are caught up in the heartache and flood of emotions as the lines of past and present get blurred.
You hear the one-sided love that is still felt, and the affection he holds as he sings "you know that I can never refuse you – I dey see you in my rearview."
The music video, directed by DesGrey is shot in warm soft colours that reflect the production and romantic lyricism of the track. We witness interactions between Lojay and his ex, both the good and good.
The single was released in the build-up to Lojay’s upcoming EP GANGSTER ROMANTIC, which is due March 3rd.
