Leon Thomas Puts On An Electrifying Performance During His Sold Out KOKO Show

A stand out vocalist, guitarist and songwriter, Grammy Award winning artist Leon Thomas deserves all the flowers and more, as earlier this month he left fans in awe during his sold out show at KOKO, Camden. Leon took fans on a journey through the years, performing tracks from his critically acclaimed album MUTT, his beloved project Electric Dusk and everything else in between.

This show was for the true Leon Thomas fans, the yearners, lovers and real connoisseur’s of R’n’B and for that reason there was no better person to warm up the crowd than slow jams selector and DJ AAA, who is best known for his beloved event slowjamswithA, playing the best of R’n’B both old and new, the crowd were well and truly ready for Leon to grace the stage.

As he emerged into the spotlight Leon immediately performed ‘How Fast’, his vocals were as clear and crisp as the original record, if not better, from this moment the crowd knew they were witnessing a true star. As he continued to glide through his tracklist of Leon gems ‘Slow Down’ was the next standout moment, as the singer laid his vocals bare and impressed fans with an electrifying guitar solo, which proved he’s more than just a R’n’B singer, he’s also a modern day rockstar. ’MUTT’, ‘YES IT IS’ and ‘VIBES DON’T LIE’ are all well deserved  fan favourites, Leon didn’t even need to sing the words as the whole room sang the lyrics back to him word for word, this is something that made the performances pretty special, The seamless transition from ‘YES IT IS’ into neo soul classic Say Yes by Floetry was one for the books.

The rest of the tracklist was seamlessly crafted with a fine selection of Leon records including ‘SNEAK’, ‘FEELINGS ON SILENT’,’Blue Hundreds’  an unreleased record with rapper Stormzy who joined Leon on stage for an exclusive performance, while not forgetting my personal favourites  ‘Breaking Point’ & ‘Crash & Burn’, which almost brought me to tears  joy due to Leon’s silk delivery and smooth lyrics.

Last but not least, it wouldn’t be a live show without an encore, the crowd chanted on beat, practically begging for Leon’s return and before we knew it him and the band appeared on stage for one final performance of ‘Treasure in The Hills’, this was a great way to end an already perfect evening.

Proving how multi-talented he was from the moment he entered the stage, Leon’s passion for his craft was so clear to see throughout the night as her proudly jumped between singing, playing the drums and mesmerising the room with his guitar playing. Leon, we love you in London, please come back soon!
