Kyle Dion releases the extended project Sassy, the deluxe edition of his sophomore album. The project contains four extra songs that include ‘Spoon and Bang’, ‘Hazy’ featuring Tkay Maidza, ‘Dance For Me’ and ‘Heatwave’.
‘Dance For Me’ and ‘Spoon and bang’ were released in anticipation of the album and dropped with visuals. In ‘Spoon and bang’ there is a feature appearance from fellow R&B artist Joyce Wrice.
Constructed from 21 tracks in Sassy (deluxe) Kyle’s mischievous persona is allowed to run free confidently talking about topics such as love, sex and life with passion and exuberance showcasing a number of moods. His sensuous tone and brazy lyrics allow the LA resident to express himself fearlessly wielding his unique falsetto and seamlessly transitioning to rapping with flair.
Crafting the perfect modern grown and sexy R&B sound with the help of producers, and friends Chris Hartz (Childish Gambino) and Bijou Choder (Brasstracks) who create the perfect soundscape with a summer tint to it. It wouldn’t surprise me if the project was designed with the aim of enjoying blue skies and warm summer nights with friends.
A track that grabs your attention is ‘Parmesan’ which features a bouncing funky baseline which is kept in ‘Pink Mink’ which is seductive and sultry and empathises the reckless feeling of smoking, drinking, women and the fast life that comes with being a singer in a typical rockstar fashion.
Another one is ‘Placebo’, Kyle in a gentler tone boasts genuine lyrics of love and affection against a simplistic bass guitar production. The track features New York legend Ja Rule who lends a verse with creative and intelligent metaphors.
‘Fault Lines’ is where Kyle expertly croons in his falsetto pitch hitting every high note as he pins over his love interest yearningly as a result of unrequited love.
The project is built on from his debut album SUGA released in 2019 and signals a new chapter for Kyle. After recently performing with Duckwrth at Lollapalooza, he will continue his North American tour.
