KidSuper FW24: Contagious Enthusiasm

This latest offering from the mind of Colm Dillane is a festival of bold colour and youthful energy taking inspiration from an unusual source. According to string theory, the fundamental building blocks of the universe are tiny vibrating strings, resembling atoms, electrons, and quarks. These strings are intricately folded in multidimensional layers, initially appearing as one dimension but revealing more than nine dimensions upon closer examination.

KidSuper – founded by artist and designer Colm Dillane - operates within multiple dimensions creatively, believing in the interconnectedness of all things. KidSuper serves as a creative collective, engaging in various artistic endeavours, such as clothing design, art shows, music recording, and film production, all emanating from one man’s creative vision and the countless talented individuals who have helped it come to fruition. The philosophy behind KidSuper – which is front and centre in this show - is rooted in the contagious nature of enthusiasm, echoing the belief that everything is possible, much like the boundless imagination of a child.

The success of KidSuper is highlighted through an embarrassment of awards and achievements over recent years, including winning the 2021 special Karl Lagerfeld Prize, the 2022 CDFA/Vogue Fashion Fund, and nominations for the 2022 CFDA American Emerging Designer of the Year Award and the 2023 CFDA Menswear Designer of the Year Award. Colm Dillane was famously also invited to guest design the Louis Vuitton Homme Fall/Winter 2023 Collection and was listed in the BoF500 in 2023.

KidSuper's collaboration with Canada Goose – unveiled at the show - featured a collection as part of Canada Goose's partnership with the NBA. The collection, inspired by the NBA All-Star 2024 game, includes reversible fleece jackets, puffer vests, and key footwear items, incorporating Colm Dillane's original artwork.

Additionally, KidSuper is set to collaborate with the Brooklyn Nets under the team's private label merchandise line, bǝrō. This partnership emphasizes the NBA team's dedication to engaging with top-tier fashion talent and local cultural icons from Brooklyn. The initiative aims to celebrate the uniqueness of the borough and will feature exclusive, limited collections under the bǝrō line, with KidSuper's collection debuting later in the year, available online and at a new standalone retail store within Barclays Centre.
