Ugandan-born, London-raised singer-songwriter Kayiah (previosuly Haula) releases her latest single ‘Attention’ as a way to signal a new musical direction.
The atmospheric production is made up off percussive elements and expressive synth to create an air of vulnerability that is reflected in both the lyrics and Kayiah’s tone of voice as she provides the details of a romantic expirence.
The follow-up from the pop-centric ‘Watch Me Do It’ ‘Attraction’, departs from the ubeat sound tas the now New-York based Kayiah effortlessly delivers a soulful tenor as she fearlessly wears her heart on her sleave.
Soulful renderings on this R&B track is the perfect way for Kayiah to express her desire and longing in equal measure as she experiences the intensity of the beginning of a relationship and how it’s so easy to be overwhelmed by it it.
Speaking on the release, Kayiah states: “I have so much music that I am just excited to share it with the world. I wrote this song in 2017/2018 and it’s one of my favourite tracks. It’s very R&B—sultry with hints of pop. It’s a love song with a lot of vulnerability but also seductive and passionate.
With the lyrics play with that push and pull, the thrill of attraction, and the way love can feel like nothing else matters but being fully present with that person who has your full attention."
Kayiah has also written music for film and TV shows, including of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, ‘Station 19’ ‘The Rookie’ and ‘The Good Doctor’ to name a few.
