Jim Legxacy Blends Nostalgia and Modern Twist with Debut Single "aggressive"

In anticipation of his upcoming mixtape set to release next year, Jim Legxacy shares his debut single "aggressive", marking his first release under his new label home, XL Recordings. The single combines nostalgic elements with a modern twist on the theme of heartbreak, featuring a sample from Chip’s classic “Oopsy Daisy”, seamlessly bridging the past and present.

Legxacy's connection to music has always been a fundamental part of his being. His artistic odyssey took flight in 2018 when he released numerous singles and two expansive projects (Dynasty, Citadel), showcasing his development as an artist, his adaptability, and his openness, all while contending with homelessness. The 2023 unveiling of his latest mixtape "Homeless N*gga Pop Music" cemented his presence.

Jim's ability to channel his emotions into his writing has solidified his position as a leading figure in the evolving British music scene. Following the release of his previous single "nothing’s changed (!)" earlier this summer, next year’s mixtape titled "Black British Music" is set to resonate with listeners in the UK and globally with the blend of genres including Grime, Midwest Emo, and R&B, depicting his experience of living and surviving in South East London and centring the socio-political elements that surround him, while also paving the way for the new generation of Black British musicians.

The accompanying music video to "aggressive", directed by Fidel, was shot entirely on a Blackberry, aligning with the themes of the 2025 mixtape.
