Released in a timely fashion for summer, The collective JEMS! releases their new single ‘FLIGHTS’ as a perfect slow burner.
Expressing impatience, ‘FLIGHTS’ is an exploration of not letting a partner distract you from your ambitions and, as well as take you away from enjoying time spent with friends.
Nostalgic, FLIGHTS' is brimming with the nostalgic sonic worlds that are deeply familiar as you hear elements of reggae and lovers rock stemming from a deep bassline and an acoustic guitar that rifts off and a drum beat kick.
It allows Elujay, the lead vocalist to enrich the vibrant soundscape with his smooth R&B vocals adding an extra dimension to the downtempo beat produced by LA-based UK producer Budgie.
The collective is made up of long-term friends Oakland-born singer-songwriter Elujay and producer J.Robb from Baltimore.
Speaking about his latest single ELUJAY, says “FLIGHTS spawned from a true story of a person who distracted me and made me miss my flight . With a nod to the 80s London genre of ‘lovers rock’ we made it feel true to the era of today.”
The collective also announced that they are releasing their second album called GEMS IN THE CORNERSTORE II on September 20th, which will feature Amaria, Chase Shakur, Louis Culture, and Rae Khalil.
GEMS IN THE CORNERSTORE means “a kind of urban diamond in the rough,” says Elujay.
