Issey Cross Soars On UK Garage Offering ‘Sirens’

Issey Cross is swiftly becoming one of the most in-demand voices in the UK dance world right now and is a name you need to have on your radar for this year.

In 2021, Issey burst into the scene with UK Drum and Bass pioneer Wilkinson for their hit single ‘Used To This’ which peaked at number 33 on the UK singles chart and has amassed over 70 million streams on Spotify. Since then, she has gone on to work with some elite songwriters and producers including Nathan Dawe and even the legendary Moby.

Her latest offering, ‘Sirens,’ is a writing collaboration with rising producer Sammy Virji, one of the most prolific songwriters the UK has to offer, Jin-Jin. (Jess Glynne, Raye) The track itself is produced by duo LACONIC, comprised of Ash Milton and Dan Goudie which samples their previous hit from 2024 ‘Want U’ by Hayley May. (I almost had a stroke figuring out where I heard it before as soon as the song started).

However, the song is enough of a departure to make it sound fresh and is presented with a UK garage twist, allowing Issey to attack the track with a different sentiment and perspective. “Every time I walk down the street, reminding me of memories that I can’t delete.” Issey mourns over a lost love that keeps her awake and tries to save face by reminding herself of how angry she feels. These lyrics mould perfectly with the harsh drop that regularly bursts through after each mention of the word “Sirens”.

However, she is soon met with the realisation that she does still yearn for what she once had admitting “If we got back together for one night you know I’d let it all slide.” This wrestling with herself sets her alarm bells ringing as she once again soars into the chorus for a final time.

This song has all the ingredients to get everyone on the dancefloor moving, a catchy hook, a regular drop to keep the energy up and Issey’s strong voice that moves with the beat as she harnesses the emotions behind her words.

With a stacked list of collaborators and her upcoming debut headline show at The Lower Third on 21st March, Issey is making sure she keeps the momentum going, on what is already shaping up to be a promising year for the rising star.
