Introducing Designers’ Nest Finalist, Emma Gudmundson Exclusive Demi-Couture Collection At Browns

"It's the most wonderful time of the year". Once again, Browns Fashion celebrate emerging designers by teaming up with the Designers’ Nest Initiative by paying homage to a new generation of talent. Fashion graduate and finalist Emma Gudmundson, a bold graduate who does not shy away from creativity, recently launched her innovative capsule collection exclusive to London-based luxury retailer Browns and their online platform.

Fashion graduate Emma Gudmundson was one of the luckiest young talents to be selected by Buying Director Ida Petersson to create an exquisite collection for BrownsFashion.com. Showing plenty of zest and exploring new creatives like Gudmundson, Ida Petersson dedicates her time to the Designers’ Nest Initiative, a creative platform offering the utmost support, growth and nurturing young Scandinavian graduate fashion designers.

Since 2019, steered by Ane Lynge-Jorlén, a background in Fashion and prior model, she has established a connection with multinational fashion brands and various partnerships to engage and support the best of upcoming Scandinavian fashion designers.

Each graduate is determined to make it their personal goal to make a name for themselves and showcase a high standard of creativity, innovation and design craftsmanship. It is a chance of a lifetime for the awarded graduate as their designs take centre stage in the spotlight internationally. The Initiative also provides internships, mentorship, expert advice on merchandising, e-commerce and brand marketing objectives to support the awarded designers produce their innovative collections.

It is a melting pot of trailblazing design talent and a chance to keep a watchful eye on the upcoming designers in the industry.

Gudmundson's new collection features a range of dazzling well-executed demi-couture dresses. She portrays her passion through experimentation with knitwear and explores various colours, lines, and the effects of floatation on the female form. She is a craftsman for knitting in the making.

All dresses are handcraft produced and designed on the body using her knitting machine. Each one of her exclusive zero-waste, one-of-a-kind pieces made are perfectly curated and well proportioned to the female form.

Tapping into her inspiration for the beauty of creatures beneath the sea, she has demonstrated the emphasise in the movement of sea creatures hovering on the female form.

“Emma’s work is sexy, visual and sustainable knitwear that does not look like anything I have seen before. I loved her work from the first time I laid eyes on it and hearing her talk to the process only cemented my choice. We are so excited to welcome Emma to the Browns family", explains Buying Director Ida Petersson.

Known as an incubator to advocate new names, bringing something new, inspiring and fashion-forward to the table has been Browns focus whilst working closely with Designers’ Nest. An opportunity to seek out impressive talent and grant them a platform at the multi-brand luxury boutique. A place where they can present their innovative design concepts and engage with their target customers on a global scale.

Above all, accepting new talent into the Browns family is a blessing. They champion the new design talent into their fold and continue to grow with Designers’ Nest and champion rising stars like Gudmundson for the 2022 Initiative partnership. Looking forward to viewing the partnership come together again for the New Year of 2022.
