Headie One Sounds Hungrier Than Ever On His Latest Manifestation Of Masculinity, ‘Came In The Scene’

The OFB General starts his next musical chapter with a track that returns to his drilliest roots. The rapper who helped transform UK Drill into the global phenomenon that it is today, Headie is back to reclaim his crown as the King of Drill, a title that has been arguably usurped by Digga D over the past 2 years.

The new track follows his unjustly overlooked ’21 project Too Loyal For My Own Good, which saw Headie reach new levels of artistic expression through merging sub sounds and dipping further into Afrobeats pool of influence. With ‘Came In The Scene’ however, it is clear that Headie is making a statement; sharpening his lyrical prowess, ready for the incoming battle for top spot. The M1ontheBeat instrumental is harsh but hazy, perfect for Headie’s signature nonchalant delivery and broody lyricism. The video is co-directed by Headie himself alongside Don Prod and sees the rapper back with his OFB affiliates, illustrating that, despite his soaring fame, he still upholds his roots; a reflection of the cut's back-to-basics stylistic direction.

With Drill’s creative grit weaning slightly due to chaotic over-saturation, it’s down to its forefathers to keep it afloat and not let it drown in the waters of commercialism and repetition. Let’s hope Headie One is a strong swimmer.
