The Indian designer gave us more than just a catwalk this season at London Fashion Week. The Strand saw many recognisable faces queue outside for the showing of Harikrishnan Keezhathil Surendran Pillai’s most recent work, each eager to get a peak of the SS25 collection. Guests showed up in dark, moody colours matching the energy of the brand in black trench coats, full black looks, maximalist accessories and uniform latex pieces.

From music to production to lighting, the show instantly felt like a euphoric transportation into the realm of Harri. Kicking off the show with Look 1 of 30 was a latex full-body dystopian and theatrical piece worn by a model who brought the look to life in slow exaggerated movements down the catwalk. This set the tone for the rest of the show, an unexpected sense of ‘disturbia’ giving each look a life of its own in how they were performed in. Each model created a story of their own in latex dresses, moulded sculpture-like silhouettes and poignant shapes that could only be recognised as Harri designs. Green and grey hues brought additional tonal complexities to the collection’s palette in the form of sheer bodycon styles. These were worn on muscular male model builds, unique faces and diverse ages.

Harikrishnan played on the idea of “characters from an uncharted realm where the past meets the future” and this was everything in between. His work is a prime example of the capabilities that go beyond what we could imagine is possible for a designer. Where talent meets ideation. What was once a visual image is made reality foreshadowing innovation we cannot comprehend yet through fashion. A trio of conjoined women walked side by side in black mini dresses and stilettos gracefully in sync towards the powerful ending of the show. Movement was a key component in the performance, flexibility was on show proving a juxtaposition in stiff ‘uncomfortable’ materials could be worn so ‘easily’

As advancements in design studios improve and develop every day, Harri is sure to be one of the names that focuses on the raw talent of his team which at the core makes this brand stand apart. Artisans at work crafting the future of a utopian collective, that’s what we call Harri SS25. Concluding the presentation with a walk from the full design team, it was the perfect ending to a masterpiece of work.
