The London based, Nigerian rapper; YTABOUTTHATACTION, aka Adetutu Aderogba, gives listeners a new, smooth and galactic taste with her singles ('goals' and 'blow up') on 'boolean logic'. Bringing talent (of self editing and directing) to the table accompanied with an impressive flow of words and electric bass-boosted beat, we listeners appreciate the personality which hypes us up in a unique and feminine way.

YTABOUTTHATACTION debuts a refreshing take to the relatively infant female rap scene in Nigeria, that has quickly been defined by empowering women like herself, reclaiming control of their narrative. Her first EP, Sage Mode, outlines to listeners the first chapter of her story; From sex-positive lyrics on ‘Fantastic' to beaming confidence on 'Geeked up', there's no denying that her eccentric and distinct sound allows us to fall deeper into her world. Opening up about mental health struggles on ‘Sleepless Nights’, included in her second EP It's Not Me, It's You, she uses her voice to reject the widespread stigmas that defined her upbringing in Nigeria.

Having new-wave rap influences such as Young Thug, Playboi Carti and Lil Uzi Vert in her formative years, YTABOUTTHATACTION describes music as a ‘healing process’. “My life experiences mainly guide what I'm going to write about and most of the time I just have a lot to get off my chest", she says. Having music as a mechanism, she also credit that her knowledge is seen as a privilege.

"I believe I'm always willing to challenge myself. Go the extra mile to make sure I'm not relying on what I know I can do but pushing myself to be better than yesterday. I think it’s important also to make sure you’re making the kind of music you would want to listen to. When I make music, I'm mainly thinking about how I could make it timeless with it still being relevant in years to come.” Stating this, YTABOUTTHATACTION places herself to be different from other emerging artists within the industry and is confident in her craft. With this creativity, she admits that she's not afraid to be a 'big kid'. "I'm an adult who enjoys watching cartoons, anime, and frequent reruns of my favorite sitcoms on Disney channel growing up. I feel that adds to the colorful experience that is listening to my music. There’s lots to be said about bridging the gap between cartoons and music, and I feel as though I'm doing that by reimagining our childhoods in a different way than other artists do when incorporating nostalgia into their sound."

Her goals, in the spirit of ‘boolean logic’, are to inspire others like her and build an empire. Adding on, she mentions, “Ever since I was young, I've always known I wanted to make a significant impact in the world, I just didn’t know how. I consider myself to be a woman of many talents and so I believe the world is my oyster. I'm a scientist and I'm an artist, I feel I have the tools to be innovative and possibly create an industry where these two very different aspects can co-exist

With her upbringing in Nigeria, she wanted to showcase that you could be anyone you wanted to be as long as you pursue it, as there is a tradition in wanting to be a lawyer, engineer or banker. Studying Artificial Intelligence at university, YTABOUTTHATACTION believes that “merging music and science in various ways will help show young girls like me that you don’t have to put yourself in a box.” Adding on, she is also very passionate about renewable energy and sustaining our environment. "I want to create ways in which renewable energy can be more accessible to the average person.”

Touching on 'boolean logic', her latest singles, we are greeted with 'goals', a single which is sampled with Loose Ends' 'You Can't Stop The Rain' and fused with a heavy drill beat. Outlined in the song title, she describes her ambitions and flaunts her powerful musical talent as she mentions that she's "Picasso on the microphone".
