As a global leader of garment design and product innovation, Stone Island has continued with their powerful ‘Iconic Figures’ campaign. In this iteration they have called upon professional parkour athlete Davide Garzetti to showcase their new Stellina Gore-Tex pieces.
The Stone Island brand has become synonymous with experimentation and boldness, creating immediately recognisable pieces that have captivated its audiences for decades. Since 1982, their designs have been driven by a desire and willingness to stand out and explore new avenues of design, picking and obtaining the perfect blend of style and practicality.
The Stellina collection is a reassertion of these beliefs. The garments are centred on a layered performance wardrobe, allowing for functionality and movement while remaining quintessentially Stone Island chic.
Instead of their usual focus on developing new and innovative fabrics, this collection is centred around repurposing discarded materials, breathing new life into unwanted items. A commitment to sustainability is at the core of this collection.
Pieces such as the padded down jacket and hooded shell jacket have a 100% recycled bionic polyester textile made from 50% plastic collected from oceans, and 50% post-consumer plastic waste, which is bonded to a waterproof Gore-Tex laminate. A shining example of the brand's exceptional product development and consideration for the environment.
Other pieces include the Down parka in recycled 3L Gore-Tex. Keeping with the theme, the recycled polyester is made from 50% plastic collected from coastal environments and 50% post consumers plastic general wastes. Moreover, the internal protection mesh is also made of 100% recycled, solution-dyed polyester which helps reduce the usage of chemical agents.
The collection is capped off by a pair of jogger pants, their design sharing the same commitment to sustainability and style as the rest of the collection.
The designs are simple yet genius. Stellina contains the subtle embroidered Stone Island star in all its pieces to create designs that are effortlessly chic while still recognisable as a Stone Island gem.
This project is committed to explaining exactly what makes Stone Island so unique. To personify this, the Stone Island team have asked Garzetti, and many others who they feel embody the Stone Island ethos, a multitude of questions. The aim is to build a sense of community while exploring the diverse cultures that have adopted Stone Island clothing as part of their uniform. It is special, exceptional and something to admire.
The collection, a magnificent collaboration of human interaction and sartorial brilliance, is available now.
