Eyes on Ishod's Latest Signature Shoe

Merely two years since debuting his first signature shoe, Ishod Wair has captured considerable attention with the launch of his second, the Nike SB Ishod 2.

For context, he's a renowned professional Skateboarder admired for his skills on a board and distinctive sense of style. Initially taking up the sport because "it just looked fun", he has achieved commendable milestones. Among them, he was named Thrasher Magazine's Skater of the Year in 2013, only two years into his non-amateur career - marking him the first African American to claim that title.

Ishod initially teased a pair of the Air Max-inspired model on Instagram last June, eliciting enthusiastic reactions like "WHAT SHOES ARE THOSE!!!" and "Greatest skate shoe of all time!". With more comments expressing excitement towards the shoes than the tricks, it's safe to say there's a lot of anticipation for this release.

While it may not have been deliberate, it's apparent Ishod and the design team have opted for an easily styled aesthetic, still prioritising performance given it's most likely intended for skateboarders.

The upper features a blend of white leather with off white, varsity red and navy suede materials. Alongside, an embroidered and vintage swoosh rests on the mesh. Ultimately, evoking a retro appearance.

Skaters may appreciate the midsole, featuring air bubble cushioning, that provides effective impact absorption. The hidden lace loops prevent them from breaking out, and the mesh material enhances breathability. All in the hopes of elevating overall performance.

Following its widespread release on January 19th 2024, there's hope that more colour variations may emerge for this silhouette as there is ample creative space to explore within the design.
