This year has been one of the most busiest years for exhibition culture. More than ever, photographers, artists, filmmakers and creatives are bringing their art from screen to in person interaction, bringing the community together to be a part of some amazing movements. Here are a few of the events that impressed us this year.
The Gabrielle Chanel Fashion Manifesto
Starting in Paris, the Gabrielle Chanel Fashion Manifesto Exhibition has now reached the streets of London at the V&A in South Kensington until 25 February 2024. Including more than 200 looks created by Chanel complimented by accessories, make-up and fragrances, this exhibition will give you an exclusive look on some of the rarely-ever seen pieces as well as clothing worn by well - known Hollywood names such as Lauren Bacall. Learn about the personal life of Gabrielle Chanel to the staple silhouettes in hand. It’s not one to miss.
Gabriel Moses - Regina
Debuting in the early spring, London-based photographer and filmmaker Gabriel Moses brought us his first exhibition at 180 Studios. This included around 50 of his photographs, varying between fashion, music and sports with some images that hadn’t been seen before. Two short films were also premiered, one being commissioned by 180 Studios Ijó, following some young ballet dancers from Lagos, Nigeria. We were really let into the world of Gabriel Moses, with his emotive style, this was definitely one for the books.
Campbell Addy - I ❤️ Campbell
During the summer, fashion photographer Campbell Addy debuted his first solo show at 180 Studios. This included 36 pieces ranging from photography, painting, film and spatial design curated by Ibby Njoya. This was an immersive experience, taking us to his experiences in Ghana to his iconic magazine covers from the likes of Vogue, Wall Street and i-D, with famous faces like Tyler the Creator, Naomi Campbell and Edward Enninful. This exhibition pushed the boundaries of photography, highlighting mixed media creation and spotlighting Ghana through Addy’s eyes.
The Art of Genius, Moncler
Earlier on this year, Moncler launched the Art of Genius at Olympia London. This was a live immersive event, including a dreamscape set by Pharrell Williams, a bright-light LED installation by Mercedes Benz, some foam-fun activity by Palm Angels, a robotic hideaway show by FRGMT and more. This event held over 10,000 guests, including Hailey Bieber, Mahalia, Letitia Wright, Poppy Delevingne, SAINt JHN and many more. To top of the night, Alicia Keys graced the stage with surprise guests Little Simz and Cleo Sol. It was a night to remember.
Wes Anderson - Asteroid City
Curated and presented by 180 Studios and Universal Pictures, Wes Anderson takes us on a ride through his exhibit for his recent film, Asteroid City. This included original sets, props and costumes as well as signature sounds and styles of Wes Anderson. Interaction included a chance to dine at the 1950’s diner, recreated onsite. Written and directed by Wes Anderson, Asteroid City stars Jason Schwartzman, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks and many more. This exhibition has our stamp of approval.
Beams: Thin Air
The experience at the "Thin Air" art exhibition held at Beams' expansive East London space was nothing short of mesmerizing. As attendees entered the massive 55,000 sq ft venue, they were immediately enveloped in an atmosphere that seamlessly blended cutting-edge contemporary art with the immersive possibilities of technology.
The curated installation, presented by a group of emerging artists, pushed the boundaries of traditional art forms. The utilization of light, sound, and experimental new media, all deeply rooted in the world of music, created a sensory journey for visitors. Each exhibit seemed to tell a unique story, offering a glimpse into the artists' exploration of the intersection between creativity and technology.
Gucci Cosmos
Up until 31st December this year, the italian fashion house exhibits at 180 studios, designed by contemporary artist Es Devlin. It’s an immersive heritage - led going all the way back to the 1920’s till today. With nine installations, the stories and journeys of the house are exposed, giving us different sides of Gucci that we may of never know of. See the feature of the latest fashion show by the current creative director, Sabato de Sarno to the elevator of the hotel that began the creation of Gucci Luggage begin. It’s not to miss.
The year is coming to the end, but the exhibitions and show continue. We are excited to see what’s in store for the new year.
