Ebubé Returns With His Second Single Of The Year ‘Lay With Me’

Ebubé joins R&B’s emotional reset as he returns with his second single of the year ‘Lay With Me’. ‘Lay With Me’ is only the second offering of this year, however the singer-writer-multi-instrumentalist has already leaned into and perfected a distinct and authentic sound.

Part yearning, part begging it perfectly encapsulates that once thought-of lost era of R&B where you could hear men like Lenny  Williams on tracks like Cause I Love You’ or be hit with the imagery of Boys 2 Men ‘On Bended Knees’.

Self-produced by Ebubé, the track is centred around a deep bass and a funky rift,  Ebubé is all warm tones and honeyed inflexions as he expresses his desire to be present with his partner as they share intimate moments through a passionate deliverance of a contemporary R&B slow jam.

In the music video, Ebubé is alone in a bar, a half-empty decanter his only companion as he sits and thinks about being close to someone special.

“I wanted to make a song that evoked the feeling of yearning to be close to someone,” says Ebubé. Adding further he says, “Lay With Me does that, illustrating the sentiment you have on those nights you wish you were somewhere else…”
