East London Songstress Amahla Shares The Powerfully Charged 'Enough'

The Hackney born soul singer Amahla, dives into the field of distinct contemporary British soul as she shares new lead single ‘Enough’, a sombre and melancholic cut that holds a powerful message.

It’s a mature and inspiring approach as she uses sonically conscious lyricism to provide detail of the Atlantic black conscious experience bridging the gap between Black-British and African American culture to explore the shared pain felt.

Unflinchingly, Amahla addresses the struggle and weariness of detailing experiences of racial discrimination and opens up the conversation of racial dialogue and Black Lives Matter movement.

The track was inspired by the Derek Chauvin verdict, a former police officer who knelt on George Floyd's neck for nine and a half minutes while he pleaded for his life. The tragic event sparked worldwide protests during 2020.

During the accompanying music video of 'Enough', the shots cut to historical footage of black activism and protests in America, and also camera close ups of Amahla. The video complimenting Omaha's potent lyricism by highlighting the relevance and timelessness of what's happening.

Her last project, Where Do We Go From Here? was inspired by her experiences during the pandemic, and it’s heartening to find that she continues to artistically expresses the deeper and more meaningful topics leaning into the uncomfortable to create something beautiful.
